Bringing communities together

Curating a youth-music mini tour of five dates across youth centres in Surrey, consulting on Guildford Jazz funding application to inspire and engage a new generation of jazz enthusiasts and artists; to creating a biodiverse, thriving native wildlife habitat at Rosamund Community Garden.

“I would highly recommend Lydia for preparing or reviewing any ACE funding application . I used her to review Guildford Jazz’s application for a National Lottery Project Grant . She was excellent. She has a depth of experience from successfully applying for grants in the past, knows how ACE think and speak and has lots of practical suggestions on issues that it’s easy to trip up over. She is also very happy to tailor what she does to what you really need and her costs are reasonable  . I would use her every time.”

Jazz for a new generation.

Consulting on a successful £20k Arts Council grant for Guildford Jazz’s A/W 2022 diverse programme of emerging jazz artists. The project focuses on bringing these influential artists to Guildford; inspiring a new generation of jazz talent with workshops at secondary schools across town; and keeping this strong musical tradition thriving.

Empowering young artists.

The Project mini-tour curated by The Boileroom took three young artists and bands to play at five youth clubs across Guildford, in partnership with The Matrix Trust. We wanted to inspire young people to pick up an instrument and also give these emerging artists the experience of touring in a safe environment.

A garden for all.

Utilising native wildflower plants, Rosamund Community Garden wanted to create a biodiverse wildlife habitat. Encouraging mason and leafcutter bees with a bee bank for burrowing, owl boxes to encourage roosting onsite, and emergent, submerged and floating plants for the newly-established pond; as well as a dye bed using native plants woad, weld and lady’s bedstraw for future fabric dyeing workshops open to all.
