Client spotlight: Guildford Jazz

I’ve had to keep this one under my hat for quite some time, but I’m so excited to be able to finally share Guildford Jazz’s success story on receiving Arts Council England funding for their brand-new programme, The Beat, hosted at The Boileroom, Guildford this October.

Guildford Jazz is teaming up with the Boileroom to present some of the best and hippest new UK jazz, funk, afro sound, and blues fusion artists.

It’s an honour to be able to support this strong musical tradition and to keep it thriving. I consulted on this successful £20k application, and am so pleased I can share it with you - see you at the front!

“I would highly recommend Lydia for preparing or reviewing any ACE funding application . I used her to review Guildford Jazz’s application for a National Lottery Project Grant . She was excellent. She has a depth of experience from successfully applying for grants in the past, knows how ACE think and speak and has lots of practical suggestions on issues that it’s easy to trip up over .  She is also very happy to tailor what she does to what you really need and her costs are reasonable  . I would use her every time.”

— Clive Grant, Director, Guildford Jazz

The “BEAT” series, which is co-funded by Arts Council England, kicks off on October 21st with visionary saxophonist Camilla George’s up-temp feast of afrobeat hip hop and jazz.

Other artists already booked to appear include Mark Kavuma’s Banger Factory, Yolanda Charles’ Project pH, Xhosa Cole, Alex Hitchcock and Rosie Frater-Taylor.

The premise for this application was to showcase Jazz from a new generation of emerging, talented artists, to inspire and engage with a new, young audience.

To coincide with this high quality programme, Guildford Jazz will also be running five workshops for budding amateur jazz musicians from the locality, as well as livestreaming all shows to other regional Jazz Clubs in the surrounding areas to increase the reach of this project even further. They’re also offering tickets via local charities that Guildford Philanthropy supports to help break down barriers to accessing live music.

Tickets are £12 and available at www.guildfordjazz.org.uk and www.theboileroom.net
